Privacy Policy

This policy covers personal information ZapropHub processes about buyers, tenants, agents, agencies and anyone else who uses zaprophub.com ("the site"). We process this information in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Depending on how you use the site, we collect:

• Account information — name, email address and, for agents, phone number and agency affiliation, when you register or apply for an agent profile.
• Enquiry details — the name, email, phone number and message you provide when you contact an agent about a listing.
• Search activity — saved searches, favourited listings and the alerts you set up, so we can show you relevant results and notify you of new matches.
• Usage data — pages viewed, listings viewed and general interaction events, used in aggregate to show agents how their listings are performing and to improve the site.
• Payment information — when an agent or agency pays for a subscription or a listing upgrade, payment is handled entirely by our payment processor; we never see or store card details ourselves.

We use your information to:

• Operate the site — show search results, deliver enquiries to the right agent, and keep your account working.
• Send you saved-search alerts and enquiry notifications you've asked for.
• Verify listing photos and detect abuse, spam and fraudulent listings.
• Understand how the site is used, so we can fix what's broken and improve what isn't.
• Meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

We share personal information only where it's needed to run the site:

• The listing agent — when you submit an enquiry, your name, contact details and message go directly to the agent or agency responsible for that listing.
• Infrastructure providers — our hosting, storage and search infrastructure runs on Cloudflare and Amazon Web Services, who process data on our behalf under their own security commitments.
• Cloudflare Turnstile — used to tell human visitors apart from bots on forms; it processes limited technical data (not your form content) to do this.
• Mapbox — used to render maps and turn addresses into coordinates; only the location data needed for that request is sent.
• Payment processors — for agents and agencies paying for subscriptions or upgrades.

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your session. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

We keep account and listing data for as long as your account is active. Enquiry messages and raw usage events are retained for a limited period and then summarised or deleted. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information except where we're required to keep it for legal, tax or dispute-resolution purposes.

Under POPIA, you can ask us to:

• Confirm what personal information we hold about you, and give you a copy of it.
• Correct information that's inaccurate or out of date.
• Delete information we no longer have a lawful reason to keep.
• Stop processing your information for a specific purpose, such as marketing alerts.

To exercise any of these, email privacy@zaprophub.com. We'll respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity first.

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures — access controls, encryption in transit, and restricted internal access — to protect your information. No system is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date at the top of the page.
